Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukdar Abdul Khalek said, once plow-yoke and oxen were the main tools of cultivation. But that place is now occupied by modern agricultural technology. Cultivation, sowing, harvesting, threshing are all done through the use of technology. He said these things while inaugurating the three-day climate smart agriculture technology on the occasion of Metropolitan Agriculture Office Labanchara at Khamarbari premises in Rupsa, Khulna on the morning of March 5.
Earlier, a colorful rally led by the city mayor circled the main road of the area and later he inaugurated the fair by cutting the ribbon and blowing balloons. The city mayor also said that the amount of agricultural land in the country is constantly decreasing due to urbanization. As a result of climate change along with population growth, food grain production is disrupted in various ways due to various natural disasters. Still, the agriculture-friendly government led by Sheikh Hasina has shown enviable success in agriculture. He called on the agricultural officers present to advance the agricultural production of the country through modern rasmat agriculture.
Under the chairmanship of additional director agriculturist Mohan Kumar Ghosh, director of agriculture extension Khulna region, district deputy director agriculturist Kazi Jahangir Hossain and KCC councilor SM Mozaffar Rashidi Reza spoke as special guests. Project Director Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni presented the contents of the project. Metropolitan Agriculture Officer Farah Diba Shams delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Officials of the office and dignitaries of the city were present in the event.
