                   A regional workshop on mushroom cultivation expansion and nutrition development and poverty reduction project was held at 10 am on December 14 at Muzaffar Garden Auditorium, Satkhira under the management of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Khulna region. Ishrat Reza, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, was present as the chief guest in the workshop. In his speech as the chief guest, he said that mushrooms are nutritious and healthy food. We need to develop the habit of eating mushrooms like potatoes. He called on the project-related and agriculture department officials to ensure the availability of mushrooms from the marginal to the highest level. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Khulna region, presided over the program.

                   The workshop was addressed as special guests by Deputy Secretaries of the Ministry of Agriculture Md. Moniruzzaman, Md. Ali Kabir and Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Satkhira Md. Saiful Islam. Project Director Md. Akhtar Jahan Kankan presented the project activities and the main article. The Joint Secretary also said that mushrooms are mentioned in every religion, it is an excellent and noble food all over the world. He requested the officials of the Agriculture Department to make arrangements for the production and preservation of mushroom seeds through the horticulture centers of the country. All Deputy Directors of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Khulna region, district and upazila level officials, heads of various educational institutions of Satkhira, mushroom entrepreneurs and farmers, hotel restaurant owners, AIS representatives, journalists of print and electronic media participated in it.
