A seminar was held on September 25 at 10 am in the office hall of DAE Additional Director, Daulatpur, Khulna, on introduction and expansion of non-invented varieties and technologies. Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian attended the workshop as Chief Guest at Zoom Cloud. Director General of Bina Mymensingh. Md. Abul Kalam Azad presided over it.

In the speech of the chief guest, the Secretary of Agriculture said that there is a great possibility to advance agriculture in the southern part of the country. Crop production will be possible by storing fresh water in canals for irrigation in saline areas. Since independence, the overall development of agriculture has been possible due to the efforts of all agricultural institutions and the success of research by agricultural scientists. He said, rice seeds and other crop seeds should be imported from abroad to reduce dependence. He called upon the agricultural scientists to successfully advance the crops developed from the laboratory to the farmer and from the farmer to the consumer.

 The Agriculture Secretary said that the Ministry of Agriculture will do whatever is necessary for the development of agriculture and farmers. In order to reduce the distance of the middle class beneficiaries, he gave instructions to the officials to find the subtle places and work in all those places. He called on all those present to work from their places at the field level to advance the agricultural economy and agriculture.

DAE Khulna Region Additional Director Bibash Chandra Saha spoke as a special guest on the occasion, Bina Mymensingh Director Research Dr. Md. Ikram Ul Haque, CSO of the Soil Department. Dr. Azizul Haque, CSO of Plant Pathology Department. Ibrahim Khalil and DA Khulna Deputy Director Kazi Jahangir Hossain.

Bina Upakendra Satkhira officer-in-charge Mazharul Islam presented the main article in the workshop, Plant Breeding Department PSO Dr. Reza Mohammad Imon. Deputy Director of DA Satkhira, Bagerhat, Khulna and Narail, Superintendent of Plant Breeding Center Mongla, representatives of various research institutes, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Assistant Agriculture Officer and farmer representatives participated in open discussion in the workshop. 100 people including district and upazila level officials of DAE Khulna region, scientists of various research institutes, professors of Khulna University, Khulna Agricultural University, AIS representatives, NGOs, agricultural entrepreneurs and pioneer farmers participated in this day-long workshop.

Bangladesh Paramanu Agricultural Research Institute organized the workshop in Mymensingh under the funding of Bina Research Program Strengthening Project in collaboration with Directorate of Agricultural Extension.
