Paddy seeds, rice seedlings and vegetable seeds have been distributed among 1,200 farmers/farmers under the Agriculture Purnabasan program on the morning of September 4 in polder area No. 22 of Deluti Union of Paikgacha Upazila of Khulna. Agriculture Extension Directorate Khulna Region Additional Director Agronomist Bibash Chandra Saha inaugurated the programme.
Upazila Agriculture Officer agriculturist Asim Kumar Dash said that the local agriculture department has started the work of full housing for the affected farmers due to waterlogging caused by the breaking of the dam due to heavy rain and tidal water pressure from August 22 to August 26. 5 kg of seeds of BR 23, BR 51 and 52 varieties of BR 23, BR 51 and 52 varieties of seeds and seedlings of BR 10, BR 23 and BR 30 varieties have been distributed to 300 farmers under the purnabasan of the affected farmers. Apart from this, Gourd, sweet pumpkin, rice pumpkin, gourd and various vegetable seeds were distributed among 500 farmers/farmers. According to the Agriculture Office sources, about 2,200 hectares of cropland has been temporarily damaged due to heavy rains and tidal water pressure. At that time, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department Khulna Kazi Jahangir Hossain, Senior Monitoring Officer of the Oil Crops Production Enhancement Project, AHM Jahangir Alam, District Training Officer, Agronomist Mahadev Chandra Sana, local dignitaries and officials of the Agriculture Office were present.
