Inauguration of Boro planting program at Dumuria

Mechanization in agriculture is popular in the country and to deal with the crisis of agricultural laborers, the Ministry of Agriculture of the government has started the program of paddy cultivation in a coordinated manner. In 2023/24 FY 2023/24 FY 2023/24, mechanical planting of boro paddy has been inaugurated by setting up Rabi seasonal block demonstration (50 acres) for simultaneous cultivation. It was ceremonially inaugurated at Dattadanga field of Sharafpur Union on the morning of 15th January organized by Upazila Agriculture Department in Dumuria, Khulna.

Mohan Kumar Ghosh, Additional Director, Khulna Region, Directorate of Agricultural Extension, was the chief guest in a discussion meeting on this occasion. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Md. Nurul Alam presided over the event.

In the speech of the chief guest, the additional director said that the number of agricultural workers is decreasing every year. Labor shortage during harvest is now a yearly occurrence. In the future, this crisis will increase, not decrease. Agricultural mechanization can be a solution to this problem. Modern agricultural machinery does more work in less time. And it takes less people to run them.


Kazi Jahangir Hossain, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Directorate, Khamarbari Khulna, Additional Superintendent of Police (Circle B), Khulna District Police Md. Asif Iqbal were special guests on the occasion. Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Insad Ibn Amin Tuhin, Additional Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Walid Hossain, Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Hamidul Islam, Agricultural Engineer Dipankar Chandra Bala, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Ashutosh Dash, Karuna Mandal, Rezaul Islam and others spoke.
